Farms showcase manure handling systems near Belmont
Lafayette County Agricultural Agent Charles Hartman invites non attendees of Agri Business Days to visit Chester Purdy and Homer Evenstad farms two miles east of Belmont on Co Trunk G. Purdy's Environmental Eye system serves 400 cattle, with lower diversions, a collecting channel, and detention pond. Evenstad uses upper diversions and underground runoff pit. The Eye system costs under 1200 dollars and can be staged to fit budget. Hartman notes a large Don Hatfield sign at Purdy explaining the system. EPA has extended the comment period to Nov 12.
