Donors Listed as Bloodmobile Tops Local Quota Again

The Red Cross Bloodmobile visit drew 164 potential donors, 148 pints accepted and 16 rejected. Monroe has exceeded its quota for the fourth time this year, thanks to Jayettes led drive. Acknowledgments list many donors, including Forrest Riese and William Eberhardt, among others.

College Night At Monroe High School Monday Education Data

Monroe High School hosts College Night on Monday Oct 9 at 7 30 p m in the lecture hall. Three hour sectional sessions let students and parents hear speakers from three chosen schools. The program ends 9 30 p m, with optional one hour Q A with representatives. Juniors seniors and parents urged to attend. upperclassmen from nearby high schools also invited.

City of Monroe Plans Tree Replacements For Dutch Elm Losses

Monroe announces a long range plan to replace trees lost to Dutch Elm disease storms and other causes. A new forestry department led by James Mauermann will oversee the purchase and planting of 1% to 2% inch caliper trees eight to ten feet tall with a one year guarantee. Residents submit first and second choices by mail to the city forester for terrace plantings on a first come basis.

Area 4-H achievement winners named at New Glarus

Miss Rita Paulson and Douglas Buehl of Little Hill High were named Monticello New Glarus area achievement program winners at Zwingli Church Fellowship Hall. The event opened a series of five area programs culminating Nov 3 for the County Achievement program with participants from Little Hill High New Glarus Washington Center and York 4-H Clubs. Douglas Buehl served as master of ceremonies with tribute by Rev Allan Mittler. awards were given by extension staff and club members.

Farm Leaders To Speak Here At St John’s Monroe Panel

Three state farm leaders will convene at St. John’s Church in Monroe on Wednesday Oct 11 for a two hour panel on farm problems. Percy Hardiman Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation president Ray Johnson Wisconsin National Farmers Organization president Neelian O Nel son district director Pure Milk Association. The open session at 7 30 p m includes audience questions and a mid session break for discussion. It is part of the School of Religion and Life course coordinated by Rev C James Weis and sponsored by the Monroe Council of Churches. The program welcomes all interested people.
