Plane search ends for Catalina missing in Formosa flight
The air and sea search for the missing Chinese Nationalist Flying Boat bound to Formosa ended Sunday night. Seven Chinese and four Americans were aboard the Famosa bound Catalina of Fishing Airlines which vanished last Thursday. Among the Americans was Maj. Robert C. Bloom of Eau Claire Wisconsin.

New Jail Bids Due Tomorrow in Green County
Bids for a new Green County jail will be opened at a Jail and Courthouse committee meeting tomorrow night at 8. Ray E. Kundert the county clerk expects at least four general construction bids and between 15 and 20 on various contract phases. Separate bids are to be received for general construction heating and ventilating plumbing electrical work special jail equipment and kitchen equipment. Bids must be received before 8 p.m. tomorrow. The committee is expected to recommend acceptance at the County Board meeting on Oct 14. The annual budget session begins Oct 28 and the board will meet twice that month, continuing for several days.

Boy's Abductor Former Convict Held After Abduction
In WEST BEND an ex convict with a long prison record was held in jail today in connection with the abduction Sunday of a 10 year old Milwaukee boy. Alvin Schmidt, Washington County sheriff, said the man identified himself as Hugh Murphy, 35, of Milwaukee. Murphy was pulled from a woodpile after fleeing a burning automobile stopped by officers. The boy was forced into the car during a high speed chase but was unharmed. he said Murphy threatened to kill him and forced him toward a grocery store errand for his mother.

Michael Bregenzer, 79, a Monroe resident and Swiss American known for cheese making and cabinet work, died at 1:35 p.m. yesterday at St. Clare hospital after a week of age related illness.
