Virgil Leopold and Barbara Severson were named Achievement Boy and Girl at the Monroe West 4 H recognition program held at St John’s United Church of Christ. The event marked the fourth of five in the Albany-Brooklyn area series with a Belleville gym session scheduled Saturday and a New Glarus Monticello finale October 15. Hog Prices Drop Again At Monroe Livestock Stations

The Monroe hog market fell 75 cents per hundred today marking a second consecutive decline since NFC with holding. A yard posted 100 to 125 hogs for the packer while buyers noted hogs remain heavy and earlier marketing would have been better. Top price reached 15.50 with heavier hogs around 250 pounds priced at 14.75. County NFC directors will meet milk truckers at 8 tonight in the county agricultural building, with a regional NFC meeting planned at Brodhead Saturday.
