Thirty seven leaders and workers gathered at the Kiwanis Youth cabin grounds for a fall camping session. Demonstrations covered camp cookery fire building stick cookery and foil cookery with coffee can stew and bacon dishes followed by indoor singing games and a dramatic skit. New Brownie leaders were announced and a leather work session was planned with trained personnel.

Pfc Robert Geiger Killed in Korean War Action
Pfc Robert Fredric Geiger, 23, son of Mr and Mrs George L Geiger of 2012 10th Street, was killed in Korea on Sept 21. Details are pending a government communique. He entered service Jan 27 1951 and fought since late June on Old Baldy in hard hills combat. He trained at Fort Leonard Wood and Ft Riley and taught leadership. Born Chicago July 26 1929 he studied at North Park Academy and North Park Junior College and attended the University of Wisconsin before enlisting. The Geiger family moved to Monroe in 1948. He leaves his parents a sister and maternal grandmother G A Karlen.
