Stateline Square Dancers of Judo plan a weekend exhibition in Madison as 24 couples take part in World Daily Expo 1969 and Mid-America's Square Dance Jubilee with Singing Sam Mitchell calling and live music by the Quadrilles. The event includes a 4 to 7 p.m. exhibition and a 7 p.m. pageant honoring Henry Ford.

Seventeen National Guard members remained hospitalized after a crash on Interstate 94 that killed Sgt. Felipe Fernandez 27. A UW Milwaukee professor called him a gem of a student with a bright future on the faculty. Fernandez had been en route to Madison amid protest unrest at the Capitol.
A near fist fight broke out on the Wisconsin Assembly floor amid two days of welfare protests. Republican Leader Paul Alfonsi clashed with Frank Nikolay over deleting language in a condolence resolution for National Guard members killed en route to Madison. Assemblyman Harvey Dueholm intervened, challenging the disruption and remarking on his ill health.
In Madison Wisconsin AP a judge ordered the arrest of Rev James E Groppi who urged students welfare recipients and others to defy a restraining order and march into the Wisconsin Capitol The protest followed a weekend clash that damaged the Assembly and prompted a temporary injunction as National Guard and police surrounded the Capitol Groppi spoke at a rally urging participation citing a moral obligation to support the mothers involved in anti poverty protests.
Assemblyman Joe l Tregoning from Shullsburg condemns demonstrators who entered and desecrated the Wisconsin State Capitol, calling the acts treasonous and urging arrests and prosecution. He vows lawmakers will act firmly to deter further violence against government operations.
The New York market slid further in slow trading as brokers reported investor caution while awaiting signs of where the bottom may lie.
Pauline Price, a 46 year old domestic worker in Los Angeles, survived a 1964 burn using RNA treated grafts. Forty percent of her skin came from a deceased white donor while the rest covered by her own remaining skin. She later said she forgave the change and learned to live with the two tone appearance as doctors note RNA treatment may reduce transplant rejection and inflammation.
State Sen. Gordon Roseleip plans to sign a complaint accusing Rev. James Groppi of denting and scratching his car during a welfare protest near the Wisconsin state Capitol. He values $200 in damages and warned of arming himself if necessary to protect property. Roseleip criticized authorities for lack of arrests as protests continued.
Monroe Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched at 3:30 a.m. to extinguish a smoldering refuse pile behind the Kubly Transfer Company on Highway 11 and 81 East near Joe's White Elephant. Fire Chief Joe Benkert noted smoke reached the Sheriff's Department. The pile, including wood chips, had burned for some time at a dropoff being filled. The firemen also toured the Churchill Woods Apartment building during their monthly meeting to map hallways hydrants and building access, followed by a business session chaired by Chief Benkert with refreshments served.
The Monroe Optimist Club delays its planned candy distribution and sales campaign to raise funds for boys. The new date will be announced later as the service unit postpones the effort until further notice.
In Galena a second suspect, Kevin Duffy, 18, East Dubuque, pled guilty to voluntary manslaughter before Judge Gundrey. Indictments for armed robbery and murder were quashed. aggravation and mitigation hearing set for Friday at 1 p.m. The other defendant, Daniel Shaw, 20, East Dubuque, also pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in the June 1967 slaying of Hilbert Thill, 30, a Dubuque YMCA employee. Thill was found on a Mississippi sandbar near East Dubuque after a beating.
