The Monroe Rotary Club hosts its third Travel and Adventure Series program on Wednesday November 29 at 8 p.m. in the Junior High auditorium. Photographer LeRoy Crooks discusses travelogues including Appalachian Trails and World of California with scenes from Shenandoah, Blue Ridge Parkway, Mount Mitchell, Roan Mountain and Great Smoky Mountains. The program highlights autumn scenery, outdoor festivals, crafts, sports, skiing on man-made snow, and a short Appalachian Trail segment through the Southern Appalachians.

Albany Blood Drive Draws Twenty Pints During Visit
Twenty pints were collected during the Albany Bloodmobile visit held in the school gym with Mrs. Nelson Miller chairing assisted by the American Legion Auxiliary. Five Monroe donors participated and a 1968 schedule for Green County bloodmobiles was announced including Monroe Monticello Browntown Brodhead and New Glarus with quotas. An upcoming Red Cross Blood Region annual meeting in Madison featured talks on nursing recruitment cryoprecipitate use and college donor programs.

The United Auto Workers conclude a three year contract with Chrysler covering 8 000 salaried workers and move to a wage battle with General Motors. Chrysler reached a three year pact with salary increases from 35 to 87 dollars monthly retroactive to Oct 16 1967 for salaried staff. Wage rules mirror hourly workers patterns at Ford and Chrysler with a 30 cent general raise in year one for skilled staff. The unions seek to translate hourly scales into salaries for 4 320 clerical workers and 3 680 engineering staff.

Deputies Probe County Mishaps Over Thanksgiving Weekend
Deputies report multiple accidents with several injuries over the Thanksgiving weekend. Larry D. Sherven and Wallace M. Miller were in a noninjury mishap on Highway 92 near New Glarus. Moody Big Show draws crowd to help a family
A two hour charity show at Monroe Junior High auditorium launched the Christmas season drawing residents from the region. Proceeds benefit Paul Moody, severely injured in August and hospitalized since near Belmont. Campaigns through The Monroe Evening Times and local groups raised funds for the Moody family, with continued contributions sought via the Times office or local banks.
