County Hunters Top Past Mark With 225 Deer
Deer hunters shattered records during a three day season ending Monday with at least 225 deer killed in Green County and many more registered in adjacent counties. The total across Green and Lafayette counties reached 634, up from 476 last year, with snow aiding tracking and improved driving of deer from woodlot areas.

Sargent Family Serves Thanksgiving to All in Des Moines
A Greek immigrant William J. Sargent and his wife Arlie host free Thanksgiving dinners at Sargent's Cafe for 18th year. They plan about 900 to 1,000 meals, carving by William despite arthritis, with help from their daughter Susie and some 30 volunteers. Tickets go to city agencies, and the menu features sage dressing, giblet gravy, mashed potatoes, cranberries, green beans, coffee, milk and ice cream.

Amos Stewart 70 of Brodhead died at 10:55 p.m. in St. Clare hospital after a long illness. Born Sept 7, 1894 in Calumet Iowa, he moved to the Brodhead area 20 years ago and farmed before retiring. Survived by wife Gladys Errington, two sons Frank and Donald, two daughters Mrs Clarence Mahle and Mrs Allard Badertscher, 16 grandchildren. Construction To Start On New Fertilizer Plant
