A Friday dance by Monroe Volunteer Firemen supports fire insurance, while many churches host individual services including Immanuel United Brethren, St Victor’s Catholic, St John’s United Church of Christ, Grace Lutheran, and Mt Olive Lutheran, with speakers named for several services.

Deer Hunting Fatal to Nine
The Associated Press reports four heart attack deaths and five gunshot fatalities have raised hunter fatalities to nine in Wisconsin’s opening days of the nine day deer season. Victims include Frank Ondrovic 52 New Auburn and Felix Stark 77 Marshfield both felled by heart attacks while hunting.

Schadeberg Defeats Flynn by Ten Thousand Sixteen Votes
Official state canvass figures on the November 8 election show that Rev. Henry C. Schadeberg of Burlington defeated incumbent Rep. Gerald T. Flynn of Racine by 10 016 votes. The First District canvass gives Schadeberg 97662 and Flynn 87646. Flynn had won his seat in 1958 in a race with Mrs. Eleanor Smith by about 1500 votes.

No Municipal Levy Hike For Monroe 1961 Budget
