Wisconsin deer hunting deaths spur early opening tragedy
A 78 year old Vernon County man was fatally shot 11 minutes after the season opener near Valley Junction. Roy Olson, about 60, of rural Madison, died four miles east of New Miner in Juneau County. Several others were wounded including Donald Miller, 33, of Richland Center, and David Mordutt, 14, of Boyceville, in incidents tied to unidentified shooters and accidental discharges. Authorities questioned two teenage boys involved. Autopsy planned to determine cause.

Miss Kathryn Sharp died last night at 6 in a New Philadelphia hospital from a heart condition and pneumonia after five weeks of hospitalization. She was active in public library work in New Philadelphia and Dover and co owned a building on 17th avenue with her brother Robert W. Sharp Navarre. They inherited the property from their uncle Ja berg who died in October 1950. The Sharps were children of Mrs Laura Sharp who died in 1925 and the siblings were well known in the area with visits to the city, Robert visiting this past summer.
