Fire destroys large Ackerman dairy barn in Jefferson Twp
At Ackerman farm on Route 4 in Jefferson Township a 140 by 40 foot dairy barn burned Saturday evening. The Monroe Fire Department responded at 5:40 pm and mutual aid from Juda Fire Department helped fight the blaze to protect nearby buildings. The fire, likely started by a light bulb incident in the upper part of the barn, occurred while the Ackermans were home. They had just finished storing 42 acres of chopped corn stalks in the barn.

Both appeared before Green County Judge Franz W. Brand. a preliminary hearing was set for 9 a.m. Monday Nov. 22. Bond set at 5,000 dollars for Hanson and 2,000 dollars for Gergish.
