NEW YORK playwright Robert E. Sherwood, 59, died in a New York hospital after a moderate heart attack. He won three Pulitzers for drama and another for a Roosevelt and Hopkins biography. He recently selected a $25,000 per episode TV contract with NBC. He had surgery at Doctors Hospital three months ago. Survivors include his widow and four married daughters.

Boy Scout Admits Kidnapping Hoax Shocks Chicago
A 14 year old Chicago Boy Scout confessed that his tale of being slugged and kidnapped to aid his mother was a hoax. Sheriff Lohman said the boy, once a pallbearer at the funeral of John 13 and Anton 11 Schuessler and Robert Peterson 14, admitted fabricating the story after hours of questioning. The Schuessler brothers were found slain with Peterson nearly a month earlier. The boy said he conceived the hoax after watching a television crime show.
