H Eugene Segner was reelected highway commissioner by a 20 to 12 vote. Ted Newman was defeated after a salary adjustment plan set Segner at 385 dollars monthly and Newman at 370, with housing allowances. The county hospital purchasing authority was approved 28 to 4, and a 35 thousand dollar budget addition for hospital care was authorized. The board added 5 thousand for a new social worker and granted per diem raises to nonboard county committee members. Segner pledged to serve Green County and urged residents to bring issues to him. Boone Lester Johnston, 25, of Ottawa, Canada, wanted for embezzling $260,000, was arrested at a Denver nightclub Monday night. Police said about $200,000 of the loot was recovered.
