Madison county board rejected requests to fund employee hospitalization and surgical insurance for part or all of the premium in a 29 to 2 vote after a long budget session. The panel also denied voluntary dues deduction and deferred changes to vacation policy. A motion on further negotiations was approved to consider the county bearing a share of insurance costs. The budget totals show 2,007,495 expenditures and a 1,129,403 tax levy with salary raises adding about 10,000. Council Declares Well Emergency In City Water System
In a special session the council declared an emergency for the water department’s Well No. and authorized the Water Board to expend funds for repairs. Water superintendent Kenneth L. Mayer said the estimated cost is 3500 dollars and the well will be out about two weeks without curtailing consumer supplies. Oldermen also rescinded a resolution on Swiss Lanes Subdivision No. 2 and corrected a naming error involving Mr. and Mrs. Peter Manos to Wendell L. Simmons before repassing it.

Funeral planned for 2 pm Monday in Spooner. burial in Spooner. Survived by daughter Margaret ZumBrunnen arriving from Los Angeles, son Robert ZumBrunnen now district attorney, two grandchildren. Formerly Edna Speent, born Monroe, daughter of John Henry and Verena Hare Speent. She graduated Green County Normal, taught 31 years at Loveland school. married Casper ZumBrunnen in 1914, he died 1942. married Gottlieb ZumBrunnen in 196, he died 1958. Homestead in Washington Township. last of her family. predeceased by sisters Ann Baumgartner, Elsa Gerber, Frieda Spaent, and brothers Henry and Ernest Spaent.
