Leaders Toast Green County 4-H Recognitions Banquet
Green County 4-H leaders were honored at a banquet with Allen Reed presiding. Longtime service awards went to Mrs. Harvey Mauermann and Mrs. Paul Hollis for 20 years, while 15-year pins were given to several leaders including Mrs. William Schuetz and Ralph T. Elmer. Alan Bertelrud, Jerry Block, Gary Clemens, and Jody Wegmueller won the Key Award.

Junior winners Liz Hadfield Waunakee and Laura Skille Madison advance to state, with the state winner to go to the Las Vegas national finals.

Silver Is Too Valuable Government Ends Silver Coinage Policy
Washington AP government ends long association with silver this week with the final sale on the private market set for Tuesday. Treasury official Thomas Wolfe says silver is too valuable to be used as coinage as supply and demand make melting coins unprofitable. The government still holds about 24 million ounces of unrefined silver and the Defense stockpile holds 165 million ounces for industrial use in emergencies.

Veterans Day Mail Delivery Schedule Announced
Veterans Day, Wednesday November 11, will be a national holiday affecting postal services. In Monroe, R. J Myers postmaster notes no mail delivery or window service on city or rural routes, regular lock box service remains, special delivery exists, and holiday hours govern mail receipt and dispatch.

North Vietnam Diverting Troops to Cambodia
North Vietnam has stepped up troop infiltration southward but about a quarter of reinforcements are diverted to Cambodia. Pentagon sources estimate nearly 60,000 infiltrated South Vietnam in the first 10 months of 1970, plus 20,000 through southern Laos into Cambodia. In October about 15,000 infiltrated, with nearly 2,000 in early November. Experts say equipment transfers have increased as allied strikes and a cut supply route limit stored reserves. The movement continues despite air strikes, with small-group reinforcements proving hard to stop.
