VFW Poppy Sale Set for Armistice Saturday
The VFW Buddy poppy sale is set for Saturday with J C Underwood and Mrs Don Lovelace as co chairmen. Poppies made by disabled veterans will be sold by post and auxiliary members in town and nearby communities as part of Armistice Day observances. Headquarters will be at Sears Roebuck on the north square. Members of the post auxiliary and Girl Scouts will run the sale. Most proceeds stay local to aid veterans, with some sent to national HQ for hospital work.

Mrs. Letha Starrow Dies in Los Angeles
Mrs. Letha Lewis Starrow died at her home 1425 West Miramar Los Angeles on Oct 26. Memorial services were held Oct 30 at the family residence with Dr. Lawrence E. Nelson officiating. Interment was at Evergreen cemetery Los Angeles. Born Monroe Nov 5 1869 she was the daughter of Col Samuel Lewis. The Starrow family had lived at the corner of 10th street and 20th avenue and later moved to Los Angeles. She had been an invalid the past five years and was the last surviving member of her family.
