Monroe residents went to the polls in moderate numbers, with 1 344 votes by 1 p.m. compared with 1 428 in 1958 and far short of 1960 activity. By close of polls 4 377 ballots were cast, 87.7 percent of 4 941 eligible. Ward totals ranged from 136 to 203 as weather and lack of local contests influenced turnout.
Mrs. Carl Marty Sr. aged 100 fell in her home at 2290 16th Street and was taken to St. Clare hospital for X rays. Doctors found no major fracture but will monitor for small bone injuries. The injury also caused her to miss her brother William D. Isely's funeral.
The Monroe Evening Times will provide telephone results service starting at 7 30 p m for county ballots with no county contests. Service runs to 10 p m and ends earlier if decisive results are not expected until tomorrow.
In Platteville observers note candidates for the assembly and state senate. C M Stauffer seeks a fourth assembly term as a Republican while F L Buchschacher runs as Democrat. Gordon W Roseleip and T J Griswold contend for the state senate seat vacated by Robert S Travis. Unopposed GOP contenders include W E Deininger for sheriff and Richard Wagner for coroner, with multiple county posts filled by Joseph D Viney Helen Myers Helen Bratzke Ralph Kundert and Ray Kundert.
In Pointe aux Barques Michigan Romney won 12 votes in the local unit ballot with incumbent John B Swainson also favored in the governor race. The community on Michigan Peninsula tip has traditionally supported Republicans. The vote margin compares with 1960 and 1958 off year results.

Police moved to protect County Judge Christ T. Seraphim and Circuit Judge John L. Coffey after telephoned threats. Guards stood at homes and courtrooms though sessions were canceled for election day. A Southern accented caller warned of a time bomb aimed at the judges.
Circuit Court jurors will report at 10 a.m. tomorrow for the jury trial of farmer John Rufi appealing his award of 38 996 for property air rights and damages in the Monroe airport project. Rufi sues City of Monroe and Wisconsin State Aeronautics Commission with Wickem and Consigny of Janesville representing him. The trial, expected to last three days, will focus on valuations and appraisals. Judge Arthur L. Luebke presides.
