The Green County Board adopted routine resolutions and recessed until 10 a.m. Tuesday for a public hearing on the proposed 1962 budget totaling 2,007,495 with a tax levy around 1,129,403. Expenditures, salary adjustments, and funds for a combined home for the aged and nursing home are under review.
The County School Committee will hear two petitions Monday Nov 13 at Monroe High School. A revised petition seeks partitioning the Simmons district between Monroe and Monticello with most students toward Monticello. A second petition to attach Blackford district in Jordan Township to Monroe is set for 8 30 p.m. The Simmons enrollment is seven pupils and Blackford serves about 20 in Joint District No 12.
Sen William Proxmire will be the featured speaker at a public banquet Monday November 13 at 730 p.m. at Monroe Country Club announced by Mrs Philip J Teehan general chairman The event billed as Your Senator program will be handled by Democrat organization members including Mr and Mrs R Finley Barry and Mrs Willard Hagstrom It will be Proxmire's first Monroe visit in some time.

Army says Van Fleet, out of retirement, spoke as a private citizen and has not performed official duties as special consultant. Tampa Tribune quoted him criticizing Stevenson and citing Cuba, Berlin and Laos, while Lakeland Ledger said remarks came from a Q and A session and were taken out of context. Stevenson sent a telegram asking for a correction.
Col. Winner of the 32nd Division, judge advocate general, was struck in a Seattle hotel by a would be robber Sunday. He was knocked unconscious with a blackjack but not seriously hurt. The assailant fled before looting. Winner received hospital treatment and was released.
Relief efforts shift to Belize after Hurricane Hattie devastates the port city. A Tan Airlines mercy flight landed with food and medicine while the British frigate Trowbridge and two US destroyers head to Belize. Officials describe 50 to 75 percent destruction as riverine floodwaters reached 9 to 10 feet.
