Nixon questioned on Watergate coverup role

Memorial Day rites honor war dead at Greenwood Cemetery

Residents and state peers gathered for Memorial Day services at the Soldier's Monument in Greenwood Cemetery led by John Marty American Legion Commander. Rev. David Dougherty delivered the invocation and Gettysburg Address by Holly Deblack followed Logan's Address recitation. The Honor List read by Robert Hendrickson noted dead since May 30 1972. Wreaths were placed by patriotic groups and Scouts as taps sounded by Monroe High School Band.

Monroe High School Class of 1973 Baccalaureate Service

About 200 Monroe High School graduates attended the baccalaureate at the Junior High School auditorium along with family and friends. Father Thomas Campion delivered the address focusing on life growth and religion as essential challenges, urging personal responsibility and service to others. The ceremony featured Rev. Harold Crume, the Monroe High School Chorus directed by Delores Feldt, and piano accompaniment by Mrs. Ben Campa with songs including Faith of Our Fathers.

Court limits access to paid editorials on public issues

Supreme Court reverses a Circuit ruling, holding broadcasters need not accept all paid advertising on public issues. Monroe Dairy Queen Queen Candidates Voting Under Way

Voting began at 11 local Monroe stores to choose the top ten candidates for the Monroe Dairy Queen title. Balloting runs through June 23 with white ballots for one vote and green ballots for five votes each dairy product over 20 cents. The top ten will be announced after nomination week and crowned June 25 at Turner Hall.
