Monroe officials Arthur Benkert and Allan Barnard outlined Monday’s Memorial Day events. The 12 squad parade will start at 7 a.m. at the cemetery monument, with a 9 a.m. parade to the cemetery and a 9:30 a.m. band concert. The 10 a.m. rites include an invocation, Gettysburg Address, and a main address. The high school band, a brass quartet, and the Veterans honor roll will featured with wreaths, taps, and national anthems.

The CIO United Auto Workers rejected Ford Motor Co. plans to let 140,000 employees buy Ford stock at half price as part of a five year package aimed at offsetting demands for guaranteed annual wages.
