Perdue Formula Advocated at Milwaukee Cheese Pricing Hearing
Pure Milk Products presented exhibits at a Milwaukee U S Department of Agriculture hearing led by PMPC general manager William O Perdue. Data show 211 cheese factories in the Milwaukee area produced nearly 100 million pounds of cheese in 1950, implying about one billion pounds of milk, yet cheese currently receives no pricing consideration. Perdue argues a cheese pricing formula would better reflect manufactured milk value than butter, which is produced less in the region.
