Rasmussen Accepts Fulltime Pastorate For Unitarian Church
Rev. Peter Rasmussen of Madison accepts the Unitarian Universalist church post here as its first fulltime minister in years. He will preach part time this summer and move with his wife into the parsonage at 1824 9th Street in late August. Rasmussen, a Madison native and Meadville Seminary graduate, previously served as minister at Mendota State Hospital and interim pastor here since January.

New Parking Meters Installed in City Lots
The city unveils four hour meters in two municipal lots with seventeen meters north of Monroe Sales Co and ten beside the Community Night Center. Rates are five cents per hour and fines rise to twenty five cents for slugging. A third lot opposite the Monroe Armory for thirty vehicles is active and to be paved likely this summer.

Deininger Wins County Speech Contest Title
John Deininger, a fifth grade pupil from Demonstration Room Green County Teachers College, captured first place in the county conservation speech contest with 32 competitors. He will present his speech to the Green County Soil and Water District Supervisors and then compete in January at the state level. Second went to Margaret Frantz and third to Ann Popanz with honorable mentions to James Allen and other fifth graders. Judges included Rudolph T. Haskee and Gunhild Boswell.
