Equity Cooperative plans $350,000 marketing complex

John D. Jenks, general manager, announced construction will start next week on a new Cooperative Livestock Marketing Complex valued at $350,000. The facility will sit two miles south of Monroe on Wis. 69, on 15 acres purchased south of the Kenneth Schmid Rt. 3 buildings.

Kissinger asserts coordination with Ford on foreign policy

Secretary of State Henry Kissinger told reporters he coordinates all foreign policy decisions with President Ford. He cited briefing the President and staff before his Africa trip and dismissed White House mumbling as misinformed. The remarks came after a NATO foreign ministers meeting endorsing deterrence and defense.

Retail food costs push price index in April rise

The Labor Department reports April CPI up four tenths of a percent led by a six tenths rise in food costs the first since December. Overall 12 month CPI up 6.1 percent while buying power fell nine tenths as hours and earnings offset.

Pre School Open House at Grace Lutheran Church

An open house for Green County Pre School at Grace Lutheran Church invites parents and others to meet staff on Wednesday at 7 30 p m. Mrs Gerald MacLeod and the staff will explain methods of morning activities and progress evaluation while a Monroe video explains operation. The 17 pupils from Green County will tour rooms in the church educational wing. The session ends May 28 with a six week summer program starting June 14.

Illinois mayors hear attorney general talk

The Illinois Municipal League of Mayors met in Orangeville hosted by Mayor J. Milton Bostian with 35 mayors and wives present. Attorney General William Scott urged fighting crooked politics and protecting rights, singling out clean air and water. Bostian named president, Edwin W. Anderson treasurer, William A. Fr Campion Selected Baccalaureate Speaker Fourth Year

The Monroe High School class of 1976 chooses Father Tom Campion as Baccalaureate speaker for the fourth consecutive year. Services are Sunday at 8 p.m. in the Junior High Auditorium with Rev Alan Rule assisting and Maynard Heins as organist.
