Brodhead Men Hurt In Highway 11 Crash
A late night crash on Highway 11 near Purmaner Ville left three passengers injured. Driver Sheldon E. Brown, 18, of Brodhead, rolled the car after it upset near a pole. Bernard Smith suffered a cut below the eye, and another rider had a leg cut. Stanley Douglas and Brown were uninjured. The car was a total wreck.

Liberated Sergeant Reunites With Family After 18 Months
Navy sergeant Elmer C. Bender of Cincinnati, held by Chinese communists for 18 months, returned to a private reunion with his wife Shirley and daughter Kathy after his release. The welcome unfolded at a naval air base as Bender and fellow prisoner William C. Smith of Long Beach, California, were captured when their observation plane was forced down near Tsingtao in October 1948.

Browntown youth injured in Browntown Bay Hurton crash
A Browntown youth, 14, was injured when a car struck him and another boy while walking home from a fishing trip along old highway 11 near Browntown. Strike Called Off By Switch Union
