Landmark To Be Retired Picnic May 24 Last Outing For Pupils
Moore school in Rock county known as Stone Jug, Wisconsin’s oldest in current use, will be abandoned after a 100 year run. On May 24, 25 pupils will attend a farewell picnic before pupils are bused three miles to Gardner school. Enrollment rose with a Miller family move, with two eighth graders and at least four beginners added for next year, totaling about 27. Built in 1850 by William Buckley and son, the old building retains its multi floor structure and twin doors from era of separate entrances.

UW Veteran Lineman Kills Self at Kegonsa
Robert Duncan, 65, longtime chief of the University of Wisconsin extension division lectures and short courses, was found dead by suicide in his trailer on Lake Kegonsa Monday night. Duncan, who joined the extension staff in 1913 and retired last fall, served as a linesman at Wisconsin football games for 30 years. He received an honorary W in 1947 for his services.
