Monroe Plans Free Cleanup Day for All Items

Harold Snively announces a city wide Cleanup Day next Monday May 19 in Monroe. Any item at curbside will be collected by the street and park departments using over 20 trucks. Residents should prepare items Sunday and place at curbside early to ensure pickup.

Babler couple wins all expense European trip at May Fest

Helen and Duane Babler of New Glarus earn an all expense paid tour to Europe announced at the Presidents Campaign May Fest in Des Moines. They will visit Zurich Lucerne Basel and Rhine tour aboard the Brettania with Rotterdam final port traveling to Strassbourg Cologne Mannheim Dusseldorf and Bonn. Tom Flynn of Brodhead also attended the banquet with 600 others. Babler, Life Investors representative, sits on a six member panel on mutual funds and real estate trusts.

Juda Seniors Headed on Class Trip to Washington

The Juda High School seniors, 26 in number, along with chaperones Mr. and Mrs. Paul E. Tigard and Miss Donna Ryerson, depart from O'Hare for a Washington and New York trip. They plan to return from New York City late Friday night.

Two Are Hurt In City Crash

Two motorists were injured in a city crash at 7 56 a m. Linda L Lauper of Route 1 Browntown had whiplash injuries and Betty M Zwiefel of Juda suffered cuts scratches and bruises. Both cars collided at 23rd Ave and 11th St causing heavy damage. Zwiefel’s vehicle struck a fire hydrant and damaged a terrace.

Proposals Sought for New State Exposition Center

Milwaukee County is named as the preferred site for a privately built exposition center to replace West Allis State Fair Park. A Building Commission subcommittee issued guidelines to gauge private interest and potential legislation for private involvement in state fair operations. Officials weigh renovating the West Allis site versus a new $25 to $50 million center.

Bands to Present Benefit Concert for Badger Camp

The Monroe junior high bands totaling about 175 musicians will perform a 70 minute benefit concert on May 20 at 8 p.m. in the Monroe High auditorium. Proceeds go to the Badger Camp Fund for mentally retarded children with voluntary Goodwill donations welcomed.

Brooklyn Man Injured in Motorcycle Crash

Sidney Quam age 21 of Route 1 Brooklyn was injured when his motorcycle was struck by a car on Highway BN south of Highway 12 18 around 11 43 p m Sunday. He suffered a possible broken left ankle and back abrasions and was taken to Stoughton Community Hospital by a passer-by. The crash involved a car driven by James Aaberg 20 of Route 2 Stoughton as the cycle turned.

Washington AP reports two Wisconsin service members killed in Vietnam. Army Pfc Dale A Gabbni of Spring Green and Marine Pfc William P Thomas of Belmont were added to the Pentagon casualty list.
