New grandstand begins at Green County Fairgrounds
Footings poured for the new $70,000 grandstand at Green County Fairgrounds. Standard Steel Co. of Three Rivers, Midh is the general contractor. The covered steel structure will seat 2,100, 500 more than the old amphitheatre destroyed by a tornado last Fall. Open display and storage areas and a new ticket office will be under seating. Steelwork starts within two weeks and should finish by June 15, with exterior by Twin Grove Lumber Co. by Fair time July 25–29. Also announced at the Fair board meeting, open dairy cattle loss will include registered Jerseys and Guernseys, in addition to Holstein and Brown Swiss.
