Death of Giants star Lipscomb sparks narcotics probe
In Baltimore authorities investigated the death of Gene Lipscomb also known as Big Daddy a 6 foot 6 inch 288 pound former NFL star. An assistant medical examiner indicated definite suspicion narcotics may be involved citing three needle marks and a homemade syringe found near the body. The autopsy was inconclusive with results from tests on the syringe pending next week. Lipscomb 31 was pronounced dead at Lutheran Hospital after being found unconscious in a West Baltimore apartment owned by Timothy Black. Lipscomb played for the Rams Colts and Steelers and remained a prominent figure in Baltimore sports circles.

Boy Shot After Flower Dispute at Waubesa Beach
Billy Martin ten of Waubesa Beach was wounded by a .22 caliber shot after an argument over trampled flowers. Dane County Sheriff Vernon Leslie said the shooter may have been an 11 year old neighbor who claimed she only meant to scare him and to break dove eggs in a nest. The girl said the gun was not loaded and she did not point it at him.

Train Wreck After Collision on Milwaukee Crossing
A southbound North Western passenger train collided with a trailer truck at a grade crossing on Milwaukee's northwest side injuring twenty. The nine carriage train continued 900 feet, toppled a 10 foot embankment, and derailed five cars while four rear express cars stayed on tracks. Ezell Wilke, 52, the truck driver, was among the injured.
