Christ Gehrig 61 formerly of New Glarus died yesterday at Winona Minnesota hospital after surgery. Born February 3 1890 in Canton Bern Switzerland he lived in New Glarus Reedsburg and Winona as a butcher and market owner. Surviving are two daughters Mrs L E Halle Badger and Mrs Harold Hatch Camp Lejeune NC one sister Mrs Marty and three grandchildren Funeral services tentatively set for Saturday 3 p m at Voegeli funeral home with Rev A R Achteheimer officiating Burial in Swiss Evangelical cemetery New Glarus body at funeral home after 1 p m Friday.
Larry Scott, a fieldman for Barden's in Browntown, is named by the county highway committee as stock room clerk at the highway shop effective April 1. He replaces Arlo Webster who has resigned.

Riverside California reports the body of Doris Cook an 18 year old wife found in a reservoir after an intensive search. Her husband 18 year old Richard Cook the slain father was discovered Monday near Lakeshore Road. The couple's eight month old baby played nearby as investigators reveal Lawrence Walker 20 a sergeant admitted sideswiping the Cook car and leaving the scene. Walker was arrested with a .45 caliber pistol and held on concealed weapon charges.
Edward W. Hanson 46 an electrical contractor of Rockford died at St. Clare hospital after a heart attack yesterday evening. He had been ill four months and died on arrival after a tire change incident. Born January 11 1905 in East Chicago Indiana he is survived by his wife Ruby a daughter Janice his father Frank Hanson two brothers Elmer and Clarence. Services set for Friday at Zion Lutheran Rockford with burial in Scandinavian cemetery.
Early today two cars were damaged on Round Grove hill along highway 69 north of Monroe. Jake Leuzinger Jr. had pulled onto the shoulder and was struck by a southbound car driven by Arthur Kane of Monroe who reportedly missed the curve.
A Wisconsin Senate vote approved a gambling crackdown bill authorizing state beverage tax agents to obtain search warrants in adjacent counties. Lt. Gov. Smith cast the deciding vote as opponents argued it weakens local law enforcement. The measure now goes to the Assembly along with other actions on plates and libel reforms.
