Francis Kaster was elected commander of Cecil Jones Post 2312 of the VFW at a Turner hall meeting. Hugo Voelkl was elected senior vice commander, T J Burgy Jr junior vice commander, Virgil Wilkins adjutant quartermaster, Virgil Tertin chaplain, Richard Bahr post advocate, Dr Charles Miller post surgeon, William Bell trustee. Explorer Post To Be Formed In Monroe

An organizational meeting for a new Scout Explorer Post in Monroe is set for 7:30 p m Monday in the First National Bank community room. The Monroe Junior Chamber of Commerce sponsors the post with a Jaycee committee including Gaylord Swenson chair and Dr. Yale Gerol district chair for the U S Grant Council. Adult advisers are Thomas Kerr and James Bosanny. Ralph Kroehler scout executive will speak. Don Lerner and Duaine Hegge spoke on Jaycees a Voice in the Community.

Washington reports the United States launched its third explorer satellite Titan and the Jupiter C rocket stages operated normally. The second Explorer satellite, heavier by a fraction, reached orbital velocity over 18 000 miles per hour, with orbit altitude over 200 miles. Satellite safe­guards included eight zirconium oxide stripes to protect electronics from space temperature swings.

New Heart Surgery Offers Vessel Growth Hope

Chicago surgeon says cardiopexy stimulates new blood vessels on the heart surface to cut heart disease deaths. School To Honor Athletes Monday

The Monroe high school athletic banquet will be held Monday at 6 in the Swiss Wheel. Special guest speaker will be Forrest Perkins, football coach at Whitewater State College. Cheese Dealers Meet To Discuss Payments

Swiss cheese dealers and factory representatives met at Turner hall at 2 p.m. to discuss proposed dealer payments for cheese deliveries. The group previously met on March 12 and recessed. Producers argued that dealers do not fix cheese prices until the full month’s output is gathered and payments come after the month’s final products reach assemblers, a delay of six to eight weeks varying by wheel or block Swiss.

A chimney fire at Duane Schwartz's farm on Highway 69 interrupted a Tuesday night firemen's meeting. Firemen cleaned the chimney and checked for damage. no damage was reported. Ernest Naef was voted into the department and began year probation.
