Plans Set for Conservation Study in Green County Schools

Final plans announced for a countywide conservation program in area schools led by Glenn T. Thompson. Motivation Days run April 3 across eight centers, with sessions in Monroe, Juday, St. Victor's, Albany, Brodhead, New Glarus, and Monticello. May culminations include centers at New Glarus Juta and Monroe plus a field trip to Zanders Lake. A Green County Extension and CESA 15 initiative with multiple agency partners.

The Road You Walk By Clair R. Munns

Spring arrives along the road with buds blooming and toads watching chipmunks. A field lad plants red seed while a girl in her dooryard sings Spring songs. Trilliums bloom and cocoons release moths as the road is walked by Spring.

Eighth Grade Art Winners Honored in Monroe Contest

The Woman's Club of Monroe announced eight grade art winners in the Wisconsin Federation of Women's Clubs contest. Debby Smith won Class A first prize for Old Roll Top Desk while Christine Vincent led Class B with Storm of Depths. Other prizewinners and honorable mentions include John Rosa Vicki Kranig Robin Van Wagenen Lee Gilbert and more. Local judging occurred at Mrs Mings home with Beloit College judges to determine district winners.

Sewer Children Haunt Milwaukee Sewers as Firefighters Hunt

Milwaukee fire fighters and public works crews searched the city’s sewers for four hours on Friday after a manhole cover was tilted and two pairs of eyes were seen. Battalion Chief Donald Goggin said the youngsters know their way around and can exit before responders arrive.

Judge Hansen To Speak At Monroe Eagles Club Program

Circuit Judge Robert W. Hansen of Milwaukee will speak at the Monroe Eagles Club next Wednesday March 29 at 830 p.m. The Reverence for Law Award will go to Henry S. Hefty former police chief and W E Deininger former sheriff. The event opens to the public at 830 p.m. after an hour initiation for new members. Hansen is a candidate for the State Supreme Court and chairs Milwaukee County’s Family Court judges.
