Dallas jurors convict Ruby of murder in the Oswald killing and set the death penalty. Ruby remains alone in a maximum security cell as attorneys prepare an appeal with concerns over possible prisoner violence and calls for extra protection.
Six American airmen were killed in South Viet Nam over the weekend after a Red guerrilla attack, including four aboard a helicopter hit by ground fire 100 miles south of Saigon and two aboard an L419 spotter plane northeast of Saigon. The Defense Department lists the dead as Captain Thomas J. Bergin and 1st Lieutenant Richard Jaeck in the spotter plane, and 1st Lieutenant Roger E. Gauvin, 1st Lieutenant Kenneth A. Shannon, Specialist Carleton W. Upton, and Private First Class Frank J. Holguin aboard the helicopter. The deaths bring U.S. combat fatalities to 124 since December 1961.

Gov. John W. Reynolds forecast Alabama Gov. George C. Wallace will win more than 100000 votes in Wisconsin’s April 7 Democratic presidential primary. He attributed the potential Wallace support to three voter groups and estimated a total 600000 to 700000 voters. He cited extremist elements in Wisconsin centered in South Milwaukee Mequon Menomonee Falls Brown County and Eagle River.
In South Beloit Illinois a tavern brawl turned deadly when two men Claude Fallin 37 of Chicago and Louis Haseman 32 of South Beloit were shot and killed and Sgt. Ted Chamberlain was wounded. Police say Orville T Waldron 40 a Florida parolee held as the assailant.

Nearly 600 people attended the 36th annual Monroe Turn and Schwing exhibition at Turner Hall Saturday night. The event featured tumbling and acrobatics, followed by a traditional dance with Russ Wilson and his orchestra.
