District music festival honors go to Rock County Rural Band
Rock County Rural Band topped the district festival with 14 first placings. Monticello, Brodhead, and Orfordville each earned 13 firsts, followed by South Wayne 11 and Argyle and New Glarus 10. First-place winners from multiple schools are listed with classes, highlighting numerous students and schools such as Albany, Belleville, Blanchardville, Brodhead, Juda, Monticello, and others. First-place performers advance to the state festival. auditions and band and chorus events are set for May 1 at Orfordville.

Four Missing In Aurora Fire
Four elderly residents remain missing after a fire at the Jennings Terrace home for the aged in Aurora Illinois. Nine people including a firefighter were injured as flames swept the 1857 brick and stucco landmark. Hospitalizations total five. In Olympia Washington a string of 15 runaway freight cars derailed through downtown Friday night killing a railroad telegrapher and injuring 15 others. The cars damaged a quarter block and wrecked a cafe a tavern a food shop and an auto parts store.
