Police Chief Steen W. Heimke testified to the Senate Rackets Committee that Sheboygan county sheriff Theodore J. Mosch and former mayor Rudolph J. Ploetz failed to curb a 1955 riot during the Kohler strike. Heimke said he lacked manpower and faced diversionary acts while the UAW dispute dragged on. He noted deputies were censured for investigations and that fire hoses were blocked by the mayor.

Farm Support Freeze Risks Soil Bank Payments
The Senate backed a bill to set 1957 floor levels for farm price supports, likely forcing changes to the 750 million dollar soil bank acreage reserve. Mrs. Goldie Seeholzer curator of Chalet of the Golden Fleece announced four pictures from Edwin Barlow’s Swiss home have arrived at New Glarus.
