John W. Williams Jr. a 17 year old Negro faces grand jury action in Rockford Illinois over the execution style killings of Ronald Johnson and Wayne Mullendere both 14. Witnesses testified Williams boasted of shooting anyone who looks at him wrong and that his father bought him a new revolver the day before the slayings.

Moose Lodge Leader Schadewaldt Dies After Stroke
Charles Schadewaldt 73, active Moose Lodge worker and former lodge president, died at his Clarno Township farm after a stroke at supper on Saturday. He served as past governor of the Monroe Moose Lodge and treasurer, and held the Fellowship Degree. He also belonged to the Legion of the Moose and the Eagles, led Townsend Club, and was a St John’s Church of Christ member. Born December 14, 1893, he farmed in Cadiz and Clarno Townships since 1922 and married Emma Bumpke in 1912. He observed 45th wedding anniversary this winter. Surviving: widow, a foster son and daughter, and four brothers.

William Haworth Dies at 91 in Whitewater
William E. Haworth age 91 of Whitewater died at 1 p.m. after a weeklong illness in the Fair Haven Home infirmary. He was born in Indiana on December 9 1875 and married Edith Starr in 1902. He owned funeral homes and furniture stores in Ridge Farm and Whitewater then spent 45 years as a wholesale furniture salesman before retiring. He is survived by his widow a son a daughter three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Whitewater Congregational Church with burial in Hillside Cemetery.

The Monroe Housing Authority welcomed Rev. C James Weis as a commissioner replacing Theodore J Burgy Jr at yesterday's meeting in the Swiss Colony Inn Monroe. The panel also announced Ray Kaskey’s resignation as secretary and Burgy’s appointment as executive director and secretary. Architectural designs by Wyman and Catlin for 86 elderly units on the Churchill property will be submitted to the federal government for approval and to align managerial regulations with federal housing rules.
