Snow Storm Wrecks State Transport and Kills Citizens

The eight persons died as a severe late winter snow sweep crippled bus and train service and disrupted telephone lines across the southern half of the state. Circuit Judge Henry Graass and reporter Ewart McKenzie died in Madison after a collision on an ice glazed highway. Four Milwaukee shovelers perished while snow removal workers battled plummeting visibility and stalled traffic as highway crews cleared trunk routes by mid morning. Flights were canceled and a WIAA basketball sectional was called off in Lake Mills. Milwaukee traffic remained chaotic as plows struggled to reopen roads.

Monroe and Green County Clean Up After Blizzard

Monroe and Green County rush to clear snow after a major blizzard. Up to several feet fell in some places as northeast winds battered the area. City crews worked overnight and through the morning to reopen streets and restore power and telephone lines with help from Wiscon sin Power and Light and United Telephone. Rail service resumed gradually to Milwaukee and Janesville, while snow plows and an end loader cleared the downtown.

Fires in Mukden and other Chinese cities reported

Two slight crashes were reported to Monroe police after a winter storm. On 11th street at 18th avenue Samuel F Pilz of Browntown and John J Burkhard of 903 13th avenue collided when Pilz slid on ice, both cars damaged.
