Weekend Monroe County Accidents Leave Two Serious Injuries
Four weekend mishaps in Monroe County left two people seriously hurt. Olaf Gilbertson, 18, of Orfordville, suffered a fractured wrist and facial injuries when his car slammed into a tree southeast of Brod after skidding on Highway 11. Mrs. Will Trukenbrod, injured in a separate collision at 10th Street and 16th Avenue, sustained head and arm bruising. The series also included a second crash on Highway 11, another rear-end collision on Highway 39 east of Monticello, and a side-swipe on a Monticello hill. Gilbertson was treated by Dr. M. W. Stuessy before returning home.
