Des Moines Flood Waters Fall After Gas Main Blast
The Des Moines River rose and fell with rapid shifts as high water on the Raccoon River caused a gas main explosion sending a muddy fountain skyward. Valves closed and major levees held five miles of flood protections around 1,500 homes and the East Side district. Train wreck derails Rocket near Hallam injuring many
