Gas company imposes summer allocation in 12 states
Standard Oil of Indiana announced a summer gasoline allocation effective June through August in 12 states Illinois Indiana Iowa Kansas Michigan Minnesota Missouri Nebraska North Dakota Oklahoma South Dakota and Wisconsin to distribute available supplies equitably among retailers who will set their own sharing methods with customers. The plan covers about the same volume as last year though demand is up about 15 percent. Wyoming Colorado and Montana are excluded. The company said it faced limited pipeline capacity and refinery output, offering dealers two choices: unlimited sales until tanks ran dry or a planned allocation. The latter was deemed the fairer method to protect customers.
