State Lab Will Aid Probe Board Votes State Workers $10 Pay Boost
Wisconsin's 13 600 civil service workers were granted a $10 a month across the board pay raise effective July 1 and payable Aug. 1. The measure costs about $1.6 million yearly and was approved by the Wisconsin Emergency Board in a hospital room where Assemblyman Alfred Ludvigsen was a patient. Ludvigsen, who will not seek reelection, supported the increase saying it helps stabilize the dollar. The board split with Gov. Kohler and Sen. Porter previously opposing the raise, while Ludvigsen cited unions and inflation as drivers of pay hikes.
