Two life scout and two star scout awards will be presented at a court of honor for troops 101 and 114 in the circuit court room Friday evening. City Offers Red Cross Swim Classes For Youth And Adults
The city recreation department and American Red Cross extend summer swimming education to city and county youth. Registration is open this week at the pool office with classes starting Monday led by five Red Cross instructors. Programs include beginner to advanced swimming and junior and senior life saving, with a weekly adult evening after 7 p.m. and a Friday morning women’s swim from 9 30 to 10 30. Children 6 years and older may participate, and recreational swimming is available daily from 1 30 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Director L. L. Kitchen urges broad participation to reduce drowning risk, noting 36.8 percent of last year’s victims were school age.
