Wisconsin Cigarette Tax Raised to Five Cents

14 Soldiers Die In Truck Mishap At Fort Campbell
At Fort Campbell Kentucky a canvas covered Army truck crashed from a bridge into Piney Fork Creek killing 14 paratroopers and injuring nine. The 101st Airborne Division unit of the 327th Infantry was returning from field training when the 2 1/2 ton truck swerved and struck the bridge rail. The truck’s driver Specialist Ernest J. McNeill 28 of Lurertown North Carolina also died. Helicopters and engineers aided the rescue as survivors described speeds of 40 to 45 mph.
