Airplane Crash Claims Crop Dusting Pilot John Maurer
John A. Maurer 29 of Monroe died after his crop dusting Piper club plane crashed near Johnson Creek. Witnesses say the right wing struck trees, sending the craft inverted. Maurer died of internal injuries en route to a Watertown hospital. He had worked four days for Flightways Inc and served in the navy. He is survived by his wife and one child. burial will be in Freeport Thursday.
