Fires Halted By Brodhead Unit Two Blazes in Night
The Brodhead fire department answered two calls from the new building. A garage next to the Robert Palmer home at 808 E 3rd avenue burned around 9:30 p.m., threatening nearby houses as firefighters kept flames from spreading. The garage owner was D L Amerpohl and damage was about $1,000. A second alarm at 3 a.m. sent volunteers to the Mt Hope road Farm Bureau hall where a suspected small tornado had blown a limb across a power line and damaged chimneys. Weather effects also toppled a chimney at the Werner Aeschliman home. rain from the storm did not flood Brodhead.
