Beloit Finishes Land Reassessment to Equalize Valuation
Beloit completed a land only reassessment to create fairer tax load, raising land value from 7 to 11 million dollars for 4 million additional value. Assessor Elmer Johnson said past values were uneven with examples like $75 lots selling for 900 and $3,000 lots selling for less. Johnson stressed no tax increase, just a firmer foundation and possible adjustments for those over or underpaying. Merle Cheney assisted. Monroe had previously completed a full real estate and personal property revaluation.
