Two Brodhead Residents Die In Weekend Traffic Crashes
Two Brodhead residents, 13 year old Conni Saam and 45 year old Delmer Cooley, were killed in separate crashes over the weekend in Wisconsin. Conni Saam swerved into a northbound truck on County Trunk T near Brodhead and died at St. Clare Hospital after the 12 31 p m incident. Delmer Cooley died when his car struck a concrete bridge railing on Highway 53 near New Auburn and he did not survive to Memorial Hospital in Bloomer. The deaths raise Green County and state traffic tolls for the year, with Cooley noted as Chippewa County 15th fatality. Cooley, born July 26 1924 in Iowa City, was a machinist and World War II veteran survived by his widow Pauline and two sons. The report lists brothers and sisters and notes the two weekend fatalities as part of a higher regional traffic death count.

Fernan Halts Assembly Bid After Accident Delays Campaign
