Water mains on square slated for through use

John A. Becker of the water commission explained that the new city mains are designed to provide pressure and fire hydrant support rather than serve as primary feeders for service lines. The old mains will remain in operation to augment the new cross city mains, and limited taps from the old system were authorized to prevent weakening the new lines. The project continues with no radical changes and work progresses, with excavation on the square finished and parking openings established.
