Court Ruling Upholds Worker Death Payment

The Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled that payments must be made to the estate of Louis J. Gillis after a work related death. Gillis, a Green Bay foreman for Selmer Co., was killed Jan. 23, 1951 while driving home from a farm job he was sent to perform. The court reversed a circuit decision that voided an industrial commission order granting disability burial and wrongful death payments, noting Gillis was injured in the course of his work as directed by his employer and used his own car for travel.
