Enthusiasm among hundreds of 4H and FFA exhibitors grows as the 109th Green County Fair readies to open at 1 p.m. Tomorrow with livestock housed in new barns, fully booked concessions, and a full five nights of acts including the Dairyland Jubilee and local talent.
General Motors reported a second quarter profits surge with $5.1 million in daily earnings for April through June including weekends. The company posted $464 million quarterly profit, $497 million in late 1962, aided by a $73.5 million nonrecurring Ethyl Corp. sale impacting the year’s quarterly results. Worldwide factory sales reached 1,646,747 units, including 1,143,952 passenger cars and 149,775 trucks in the U.S.
Madison Wisconsin dairy market shows a mixed cheddar trade with steady tone and irregular demand. Supplies remain ample, with cheddar prices around 3 55s to 3 8 percent, single dai sies near 38 to 39 percent, longhorns at 38s to 39 percent, and midgets from 37 42 to 40 42 percent.

U S backed patrols and South Korean police killed four heavily armed North Korean infiltrators amid renewed clashes near the U S 4th Cavalry command post south of the DMZ. A U S soldier and a Korean police officer were also killed as the fighting extended to the Imjin River area near Dangdong iri. Corporal George F Larson Jr of Davison Michigan was identified as the U S casualty.
Four hours before their wedding Raymond Zehnberg 21 was killed in a Birmingham Michigan area auto accident. His fiance Betty Meggs 23 of Pontiac was listed in fair condition after Zehnberg swerved to avoid a car making a U turn, lost control, and struck a tree in Bloomfield Hills.
