Flames Destroy Building on Earleywine Farm
A fire at the Oliver Earleywine farm on Route 1 near Brodhead destroyed a building and 7000 bales of hay. Firefighters from Brodhead and Orfordville fought the blaze around 7 30 a m but could not stop it. Tenants Clarence Steele reported no animal losses and intact machinery as the Earleywines were away in the east.

Green County residents will join a one day host of fundraising on Sunday Aug 21 as part of the Friends of St. Clare Development Program appeal. Robert Bussen says over 1 000 volunteers will work with businesses and individuals to collect support with sessions culminating next Tuesday at 8 p m in Monroe. Progress indicators posters and literature will be distributed as the drive aims to fund a four million dollar addition to St Agnes Sisters facility.

Eugene Tyler 58 Dies in Paris Community Hospital
Eugene Tyler age 58 died at Paris Illinois Community Hospital after surgery on July 23. Born May 18 1908 in Winslow Illinois he taught in southern Wisconsin and worked as dean at Northwestern Military and Naval Academy near Lake Geneva and as admission counselor at Stephens College. He was a longtime WPRS Paris radio figure and active in Belfrey Theater Williams Bay and Paris Players. Services Friday 1:30 p.m. at Walker Mortuary Freeport with burial in Rock Lily Cemetery Winslow.
